The Lohagad Fort has now been temporarily closed to visitors by the Lonavala Rural Police as part of the ongoing investigation into the Ketan Agarwal murder case. The incident, along with the monsoon season, has led to a rise in the number of visitors to the spot over the last few days. Here’s what we know about this development so far.
Lohagad Fort Temporarily Closed For Visitors
Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra, a centuries-old hill fort situated close to the hill station of Lonavala near Pune, is known for its historical significance and trekking trails. But recently, this UNESCO-recognised heritage site has witnessed a sharp rise in tourist footfall after the Ketan Agarwal case and due to the monsoon. However, to carry out the investigation, the Lonavala Rural Police have now temporarily closed the fort to visitors.
According to The Times of India, on June 30, 2026, tourists present at the fort were evacuated so the police could conduct investigative procedures linked to the case. The fort had earlier been temporarily shut as part of the investigation. During that time, the police recreated the crime scene with the accused, Siya Goyal.
