Karnataka To Launch ‘Namma Guide’ App To Connect Tourists With Licensed Tour Guides

Karnataka Namma Guide

The Department of Tourism of Karnataka is planning to launch a tech-savvy guide called ‘Namma Guide’ to change how travellers explore tourist spots in the state. The website is designed to connect people with licensed tour guides and boost tourism. Here’s what you can expect from this new website.

Karnataka To Launch ‘Namma Guide’ Website & App

According to The Hindu, the new online platform, ‘Namma Guide’, will provide world-class facilities to tourists. People will be able to connect with local guides, which will help them explore tourist spots and get accurate information about the history, culture and significance of different places. The system is modelled after foreign systems. The government has invited organisations, including startups from Karnataka, to participate in this development.

Reportedly, this initiative is also expected to generate more employment opportunities for guides already registered with the Department of Tourism. Authorities have listed 240 approved guides, along with their names, addresses and contact numbers, on the official website of the Department of Tourism. The list can help tourists book guides on their own. Launching the ‘Namma Guide’ website and app will help streamline the process.

App To Feature Video Portfolios And Guide Details

According to The Hindu, the app and website will also contain guides’ video portfolios and other details to make it easier for tourists to make their choice. The app will also display the expertise of tour guides, the languages they offer and the types of experiences available for tourists.

There was also a discussion about the app having features for booking accommodation and providing meals for guides. However, this has not been finalised yet. The initiative will be quite beneficial for tourists in Karnataka, helping them find licensed tour guides at fair fees.
