A Bengaluru man’s recent post on X has gone viral and sparked a serious discussion online. He spoke about his experience travelling on unreserved trains, rural buses and shared village rickshaws. He concluded that life on the “other side of India” is very different from urban city life. Here’s what he talked about.
Bengaluru Man Shares His Rural Travel Experience
For most of us living in metro cities, life can feel very different. This is exactly what the Bengaluru man talked about in his post. The X user, Kiran, who describes himself as an “independent common man,” wrote about how life looks beyond big cities. Kiran said he has travelled on many unreserved trains, rural buses and even shared village rickshaws with locals.
But his point was not just about travel. He wanted to show how life in rural areas differs from urban cities. He wrote that during his journeys, he noticed people’s food, their phone calls, the videos they watched and the “aggression in getting space.” His post included four images showing people sleeping on train floors, sitting at crowded bus stops and travelling in packed buses.

A Lot To Learn From The “Other Side Of India”
Kiran also said there is a lot to learn from people living in rural areas, which he called the “other side of India.” He especially mentioned their “chalta hai attitude, adjustment to lack of hygiene and overall patience!” Kiran ended the post by writing, “A reminder of per capita income when we usually talk of the fourth largest GDP.”
The post quickly went viral. Many users reacted on X. One wrote, “Rural life is actually wonderful to explore.” Another agreed with Kiran and wrote, “Having experienced it all – from shared rickshaws and general coaches to business class flights, I can say each teaches you something different about life, people, patience, and privilege. Every layer has its lessons.”
A third user commented, “These experiences are a humbling reminder of India’s real diversity and resilience. ” One comment read, “This is the real India.” Several users also said rural life may be harder but often simpler. They stated that people there are more resilient.
