The Folk Art Museum, located in Lucknow, is all set to get a major makeover with fun and interactive spaces. Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned ₹15 crore to expand the museum. New attractions, workshop spaces and exhibition areas will be added to attract tourists and turn it into a key heritage destination.

Under this development drive, Uttar Pradesh aims to attract young visitors with interactive displays at the Folk Art Museum in Lucknow. ₹15 crore has been allocated to position this place as an important tourist destination. According to The Times of India, the museum will showcase gold embroidery (zardozi) artworks by artisans from Varanasi, Mirzapur, Agra and Lucknow.
Visitors will also get to see Gorakhpur’s terracotta sculptures, as well! There will be a dedicated workshop area and a stage for folk performances. These spaces will promote live demonstrations and cultural events. These plans sound amazing, right? But wait till you know more.

Prehistoric Cave Walls, Activity Zone & More
As per a report by The Times of India, authorities are also planning an activity zone for children. This space will introduce them to folk art and craft through interactive sessions in a fun way. The museum will also feature models of prehistoric cave walls, 25 hanging carpets, an interactive textile thread display and traditional tribal cottages. These will reflect indigenous lifestyles and give visitors a glimpse of rural traditions and early human life.
Jaiveer Singh, Culture and Tourism Minister, shared with The Times of India that this initiative will help preserve folk art and craft traditions. It will also spread awareness of the state’s rich heritage. The museum was established in 1989 and is dedicated to the collection, preservation and exhibition of Uttar Pradesh’s folk arts.
