Maharashtra To Get Single-Window Clearance System

As per a report by the Free Press Journal, a 25-member panel has been developed to develop the system. The Principal Secretary and Director General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) will head the panel. The panel also includes members like the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (Law & Order), Additional District Magistrates for Mumbai City and Suburbs, Directors of Archaeology, State Fire Services and Cultural Affairs. It also includes other members like Chief Engineers of the PWD and BEST, ADG (Traffic), Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Director of Information Technology, Additional Municipal Commissioner of BMC.  The Commissioner of State Excise, Joint Secretaries from Revenue, Rural Development, Energy, GAD, Environment, and Public Health departments. Additionally, the panel will also consist of representatives of event organisers.

As per reports, based on the central government’s model for live event clearance, the panel has been directed to draft a detailed, industry-friendly SOP. The SOP will cover all live events and concerts and will address coordination and other related issues. Not only this, but it will also ease the development of a single-window clearance system to grant all required permissions in line with the SOPs. As per the Government Resolution (GR), this initiative aims to position India as one of the leading destinations for live entertainment, which aligns truly with the Centre’s establishment of a Live Events Development Cell.

What Is The Current Events Clearance System?

Currently, organising an event requires about 10 to 15 clearances from various agencies, including the fire brigade, police and others. To standardise and simplify the process, the Maharashtra government has decided to adopt a model SOP, the GR states. The DGIPR has been appointed as the nodal officer for organising events and concerts.
