Michelin-Starred Chef Garima Arora Curates Royal Dinner For Thailand’s Princess Sirivannavari

Chef Garima Arora was recently invited by the Indian Embassy in Thailand to showcase her culinary vision. She was invited to curate an exclusive dinner in honour of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya ahead of her official visit to India. Garima Arora Showcases Her Culinary Artistry

The intimate evening allowed Chef Garima Arora to show her culinary artistry by presenting a special menu celebrating India’s gastronomic identity while honouring the ties between India and Thailand. The dinner was served as an introductory symbol to the princess’s upcoming visit to India.

Chef-owner of the famous two-Michelin-starred Gaa restaurant in Bangkok, Garima Arora is known for showcasing her modern Indian cuisine on the global stage. This invitation by the embassy has added another feather to her golden cap and emphasises her role as a cultural ambassador.

What All Was There On The Menu?

The menu opened with a perfect dish, Tom Kha Pani Puri, which is a fun Indian tribute to the Thai classic featuring chilled Tom Kha broth and maitake mushroom, followed by Tuna Bhel with chutoro, khakra, fresh herbs, fermented chilli and samosa lime chutney.

The menu also had dishes like berry chaat paired with mixed berry granita, sweetened yoghurt, lemon basil chutney, and crispy betel and mango leaves, followed by the main course that included chicken malai kebab with smoked tofu and jaggery vinaigrette, slow-cooked saag, pumpkin kebab, jackfruit rann, and morel mushroom biryani, accompanied by artisan breads, papadums, and raita. The meal concluded with chai mousse crafted from black Darjeeling tea, served with raspberries and candied ginger.

During the dinner, Chef Garima personally explained the menu to Her Royal Highness, giving her insights on what she could expect on her visit to India.

Garima not only shared the story behind the dish but also the history and ancestral links attached to it, while promoting ties between the two countries. These cultural exchanges have shaped the food traditions of both India and Thailand.
