Every day, there’s a new food trend going viral on social media. Whether it’s healthy Zucchini Noodles, Cloud Bread, or some other weird combination, something always grabs attention. Recently, while scrolling through reels on Instagram, I came across another one: red wine with vanilla ice cream. It sounded bizarre but looked delicious. So I thought, why not give it a try? Here’s my verdict on this viral combination.
I Tried The Viral Red Wine And Vanilla Ice Cream Combo

Okay, so first things first: I’m not the kind who usually falls for food combinations trending online. But this one looked too good to ignore, and I gave in. Since I love coffee, I’ve also tried vanilla ice cream with espresso, which is called ‘Affogato‘. I wanted to see if this new combination could live up to that. So, I decided. I took out a bottle of wine and ordered a tub of plain vanilla ice cream. I scooped some into a bowl and poured wine over it. The mix of red and white looked so appealing, I can’t lie.
Now comes the real part: the taste test. The first spoonful hit my taste buds like a rebellion. It was sweet, yes, but there was a hint of tartness. Honestly, at first, I was a little confused. But then I went in for another bite, and then another.

Here’s My Final Verdict

I took about 4-5 spoonfuls before realising that yes, I actually liked the taste. It was comforting yet refreshing. Vanilla ice cream is considered the most basic flavour, but adding wine to it completely transformed it into something new. For now, I think every other dessert can take a back seat – yes, even Affogato. I might find myself reaching out for this easy-to-whip-up dessert whenever I crave something sweet yet boozy.
My curiosity also made me look it up online. Apparently, it’s simply called a ‘wine float’. Many people on the internet have tried their own versions by adding soda, ice cubes, or even extra toppings. I kept mine simple. The sweetness of vanilla and the bitterness of wine paired up beautifully, making the whole dessert feel rich and decadent.
So, if you are craving something boozy but are not in the mood for a full glass of wine, try this. For me, it’s a 9/10. I’ll definitely try it again soon. Try it once and tell us how it goes for you!
