Mumbai Metro One Launches 996 Smart Lockers Across 12 Blue Line Stations; Details Inside

Mumbai Metro One and AutoPe Payment Solutions Ltd have launched 996 digital lockers across 12 metro stations. This new initiative aims to boost commuter convenience, streamline e-commerce deliveries and improve last-mile logistics. These lockers are easy to use and come in two sizes. 996 Smart Lockers Rolled Out Across 12 Stations Of Mumbai Metro 

Mumbai Metro has now set a new benchmark. In collaboration with AutoPe Payment Solutions Ltd, the authorities have launched 996 smart locker systems across 12 Blue Line stations. As per a report by The Free Press Journal, these smart lockers are expected to benefit nearly 500,000 daily commuters. These lockers will come in handy for many. They offer secure, tech-enabled storage for personal items, groceries, parcels, and more. 

AutoPe already operates 25,000 lockers across 250 metro stations in Delhi, and the company now plans to integrate locker systems across the Mumbai Metro too. These smart lockers by AutoPe have versatile uses beyond personal storage. They can also be used for e-commerce and courier deliveries, too. The whole system is also expected to cut last-mile emissions and ease traffic by making the pickup and delivery cycle more efficient for online orders.

How Do The Smart Lockers Work?

According to a report by The Free Press Journal, users can access the smart lockers through a mobile app, SMS or by scanning a QR code. The lockers come in two sizes. Small units support up to 5 kg of storage while medium ones can hold up to 10 kg. Pricing is flexible: ₹20 per hour for small lockers and ₹30 per hour for the medium ones.

The lockers will be under 24×7 CCTV surveillance and will require OTP-based authentication to keep all items safe. This initiative allows commuters to travel lighter and worry-free. The lockers will also serve as hubs for secure package storage.
