Mumbai Shivers At 16.2°C; Cold Wave Alerts Issued In Maharashtra, Check Weather Updates

It seems like North India is not the only one facing a cold wave this year. Mumbaikars can also expect a sharp drop in temperature in the next 12 hours. The city also woke up to its coldest morning of the season today. The IMD has stated that cold and dry weather will continue in Mumbai, with a cold wave alert in several districts. So take out your jackets and cosy up a little. It’s going to get cold!

Mumbai Weather: City Records Coldest Morning Of The Season

Mumbai saw its coldest morning of the season on Wednesday, November 19. The minimum temperature dropped 16.2°C below normal. According to a report by The Indian Express, Mumbai last recorded its coldest day in the past 10 years at 16.3 °C in 2016. The weather in Mumbai was also quite cold yesterday. The Santacruz Observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 32.1°C (1.9°C below normal) and a minimum temperature of 17.4°C (3.8°C below normal). As per a report by The Free Press Journal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the cold and dry weather will continue in the city for the next two days.

Parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, like Dombivali, Kalyan and Badlapur, can expect minimum temperatures of around 12°C. Several districts in Maharashtra have been issued a warning for cold wave-like conditions. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall up to 5°C. These districts now have a yellow alert: Dhule, Nashik, Pune, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Yavatmal and Washim.

Maharashtra To See Colder Days Ahead

As per a report by Moneycontrol, the IMD has also stated that the interiors of Maharashtra, especially Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Vidarbha, can get quite cold. People here can witness temperatures falling below 10°C. Keeping this in mind, the IMD has issued guidelines for the citizens.

People are advised to wear warm clothing, avoid long exposure to cold and increase their intake of vitamin C. Moreover, people should seek medical attention in case of frostbite and flu-like conditions. According to The Free Press Journal, the minimum temperature in Maharashtra may rise towards the weekend, which might bring some relief from the cold.
