Iconic Kala Ghoda Area In Mumbai To Get A Pedestrian Zone
People living in Mumbai are aware of the city’s iconic Kala Ghoda art district. The cultural hub is famous for its stunning Victorian architecture, cafes, high-end boutiques, museums, galleries and more. Now, according to Mumbai Live, the city will get its first-ever pedestrian zone in the district.
Similar to Buchanan Street in Glasgow and Carnaby Street in London, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned to develop roads in the Kala Ghoda area as pedestrian walkways. Reportedly, the first phase of the non-vehicular zone in Kala Ghoda has already been completed. The second phase is in its final stage and will create Mumbai’s first pedestrian zone.
Al-Fresco dining, Art, Crafts & More
The city’s first pedestrian zone will be dedicated to the people of Mumbai by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. According to Mumbai Live, Mumbai BJP President and MLA Amit Satam recently inspected the beautification work underway in the iconic Kala Ghoda area. BJP’s Colaba corporator Makarand Narvekar was also present with him during the inspection. You would be delighted to know that various activities related to art, crafts, and music will be organised in the area.
A new tourist attraction is also being planned, featuring colourful murals and artistic architecture. Bollards will be installed at the entrances, and vehicle entry will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Apart from that, ‘al fresco’ dining facilities, where people can enjoy their meals in the open, will also be introduced soon.
