GSB Seva Mandal Secures ₹474.46 Crore Insurance
The insurance cover for the 2025 Ganesh festival is provided by New India Assurance and is an “all-risk” policy. The package covers everything from protection for gold, silver and precious stones, personal accident insurance, fire and earthquake risks, to public liability insurance. The major part of the insurance covers personal accident insurance, which is worth ₹375 crore. It extends coverage to priests, volunteers, cooks, security staff, and attendants at the pandal.
Other features include public liability insurance of ₹30 crore. It will cover pandals, stadiums, devotees, and fire. Moreover, special risk cover of ₹43 lakh has also been added to the insurance cover. Unlike other components, fire and earthquake coverage remains same as last year, ₹2 crore.

Use Of Gold And Silver In Ornaments
The insurance cover for ornaments at the pandal is ₹67 crore. GSB Seva Mandal president Amit Pai has stated the increase in gold and silver prices as the reason for the higher insurance cover this year. During the 2024 Ganesh festival, gold was priced at ₹77,000 per 10 grams. As per India Today’s report, the current gold rate is ₹1,02,000 per 10 grams.
For decorations, the mandal will use 66 kilograms of gold ornaments and 336 kilograms of silver. The GSB Seva Mandal is all set to organise Mumbai’s favourite festival at highest level with all necessary protections. The celebrations will be held from August 27 to 31.
The record insurance cover reflects the devotion and grandeur with which Mumbai celebrates Ganpati Bappa, and the excitement for this year’s festival is at its peak.
