How Fast Did The New Vande Bharat Chair Car Travel?
Indian Railways recently tested a new Vande Bharat Chair Car on the Nagda-Kota-Sawai Madhopur section of West Central Railway (WCR). The train completed a high-speed trial at 180 kmph. The Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) is testing the train before officially approving its maximum speed.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the Vande Bharat train was tested at 180 kmph with the required load inside it. Its air springs were also kept inflated during the test. However, more tests are still pending before the full testing process is complete.

High-Speed Testing Programme Includes Three Steps
The Vande Bharat train has to go through three main tests to complete the high-speed testing. The loaded oscillation test is already done, but the train still needs to undergo the empty-condition oscillation test, coupler force test and emergency braking test.
During the coupler force trial, engineers will check the forces between coaches when the train accelerates and brakes. As per Hindustan Times report, the train will also undergo an emergency braking test at up to 160 kmph. After all tests, RDSO will examine the results. The final speed certificate will be issued only if the train meets the required technical standards.
The Vande Bharat Chair Car includes Siemens technology to power the train and a Knorr-Bremse system for braking. It also includes safety features like Kavach, CCTV cameras, emergency alarm buttons and a system for passengers to talk to the train crew.
