The state government in Shimla is now focusing on introducing modern transportation projects that are both eco-friendly and convenient for both locals and tourists. Taking a major step towards this vision, they have planned a ropeway and rapid transport system development project in Shimla. As per the Travel Trade journal, this project is worth ₹1,734.70 crore and has already received stage-I approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Eco-Friendly Project And Employment Opportunity

The approval of this project comes under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980. For this project, permission to use 6.1909 hectares of forest land is given, ensuring full compliance with environmental and legal norms. The Deputy Chief Minister is expecting that the project will bring more employment opportunities for local residents and also play a crucial role in supporting the local economy.

According to Travel Trade Journal, the Deputy Chief Minister described the project as a “major gift to the people of Shimla” and said it suits well with the state government’s vision of a “Green Himachal.” He also expressed gratitude to the centre and the environment ministry for giving permission to the project, highlighting the collaborative effort between the state and central authorities in promoting sustainable development.
