The Delhi government is planning to redevelop Old Delhi’s historical market while maintaining its old-world charm and enhancing commercial infrastructure. The new development plan ensures that local shops, small warehouses, and offices stay in the same area but in better and improved conditions. As per Hindustan Times, CM Rekha has come up with this new plan to promote business growth and explained that “an increase in trade will increase revenue, which will eventually benefit Delhi.”

During the meeting with the Bhartiya Udyog Mandal that was held at the Delhi Secretariat, the CM created a board known as the Delhi Traders Welfare Board. It consists of 15 members, all appointed to help the traders.

Among the 15 members of the board, nine are traders from the city. The aim behind forming this board is to streamline paperwork, provide social security, and financial support during crises like fire and flood. By linking the government and traders, they hope to improve employment and investment in the capital. Last month, the Delhi Cabinet gave its approval to the board that will help eight lakh registered traders.
