We have often seen posts, where people are talking about how impressed they are with the services and speed of Vande Bharat Express trains. But recently, we came across one post on social media that have left people wondering if the train serves expiry food to the travellers. Recently, a traveller found a worm in his dahi. Read to know what happened.

Vande Bharat Train Traveller Complains About Food

Taking to his social media handle, Kapil (@kapsology) shared an incident regarding the food on the Vande Bharat train. He contacted the pantry manager and showed maggots in the dahi. It wasn’t just one cup, two cups had maggots, and a traveller had already eaten some from them. He also pointed out a tray containing several other maggots. At first, the train staff mistook the maggots for kesar in dahi.

he attendant checked the yoghurt cups and mentioned that they were manufactured on March 4 and served on March 15, which is 11 days later. When asked why expired food was served, the staff clarified, “Sir, that’s not the expiry date. That’s the manufacture date.” Honestly, it’s hard to understand how such obvious hygiene issues are overlooked on a premium train.

According to Moneycontrol, IRCTC, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, responded after the video went viral. They said the matter was taken seriously and that punitive action had been taken against the service provider involved. They also issued strict instructions to ensure safety and hygiene protocols are followed to prevent such incidents in the future.

Internet Reacts To Incident

This post showing the poor quality of food served on the Vande Bharat train has gone all over the internet, and many netizens have shared their reactions in the comments.

One user wrote, “Disgusting! The actual problem is that our lowest working class isn’t educated about hygiene and the overall process of how things work in developing nations, and that is the root of many problems. Not only in trains but in restaurants and many other industries like automobile repair shops. One example: at dhabas, tea is always served by holding a cup from where your lips will touch! Zero sense.

Another user wrote, “Vande Bharat passengers paying 3x price for a ‘premium’ journey and getting worm biryani with kesar-flavored insect legs in curd? IRCTC bhaiya: ‘Arre, yeh toh premium protein hai, complain mat karo.’”

One comment read, “I have full reason to believe that expired goods are being served in trains. It’s a mass-level scam. FSSAI must act.”
