Bengaluru’s traffic woes are all set to improve significantly. On August 10, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally open Namma Metro’s Yellow Line. It will provide much-needed relief to the thousands of daily commuters in the city. The announcement came from Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who shared the news on his official social media handle.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he thanked the Prime Minister for personally ensuring that this important metro project was completed on time. He called it a major milestone for Bengaluru’s infrastructure growth. The Yellow Line is a brand-new metro route that runs between Bommasandra and RV Road.
Along this 19.15 kilometres route, there are 16 stations that will serve both residential and commercial areas in South Bengaluru. According to India TV News, the line was built at a cost of ₹5,056.99 crore and is expected to serve around 8 lakh people every day. One of the biggest reliefs will be at the Silk Board junction, known for heavy congestion. With the Yellow Line running through this area, commuting time will be reduced significantly.
Timely Completion Thanks To Government Push
According to Tejasvi Surya, this project met its deadline thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s personal intervention. The government made sure that the line was ready just in time, right before Independence Day on August 15. Surya also pointed out how reliable public transport systems like metro rail are key to solving Bengaluru’s biggest problem: traffic.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the next big project, Bengaluru Metro’s Phase 3. This phase will add 44.65 more kilometres to the existing network and cost ₹15,611 crore, according to India TV News. This means even more areas in the city will be connected in the near future. Traffic in Bengaluru is terribly annoying and inconvenient, so much so that even a short trip can take hours. As soon as the Yellow Line is up and running, travellers can look forward to shorter travel times and fewer delays.
This development certainly shows how public transport is becoming the backbone of the city.
