PM Modi To Inaugurate Airport

On March 28, 2026, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh to inaugurate Phase I of Noida International Airport. According to NDTV, this project, located along the Yamuna Expressway, has been developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore. Here’s the schedule: The Prime Minister will arrive in Jewar, located in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, and then inspect the terminal building around 11:30 am. After this, he will officially inaugurate the airport at around noon. He will also address a public gathering during the visit.

This new upcoming airport is expected to be a major international gateway for the National Capital Region. With this, both domestic and international travel options are expected to improve significantly.

Second International Airport In NCR

Another interesting thing is that this new airport will be the second international airport serving the NCR. The first one is Indira Gandhi International Airport. Honestly, this feels like a much-needed move considering how busy the region has become.

As per NDTV, phase I of Noida International Airport has been developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. In the beginning, it will handle around 12 million passengers every year, which already sounds quite massive. What’s even more impressive is that it can be expanded to handle up to 70 million passengers annually in the future.

If you visit this airport, you can expect a long runway that supports large aircraft, advanced landing systems for better navigation, modern airfield lighting, and smooth operations in all weather conditions, both day and night.

Also, this airport is built to handle cargo in a big way. At the start, it will be able to manage over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of cargo every year, and this can grow up to around 18 lakh metric tonnes in the future.
