FSSAI is now asking citizens to be the ‘eyes’ of the organisation by reporting unsafe food, unhygienic kitchens, adulteration, or any other unsafe food practices through its mobile app, Food Safety Connect. You Can Now Report Unsafe Food To FSSAI 

If you ever notice poor food safety practices at a restaurant or any eatery, you can now report the issue directly to FSSAI instead of just noticing it. Unsafe food practices affect everyone, and it is high time they stopped. FSSAI took to its official X account to urge consumers to download its Food Safety Connect app, where they can easily report any problem with just one photo.

According to News18, the app has been developed to strengthen consumer participation in food safety enforcement. Once a consumer submits a complaint, it will be forwarded to the concerned food safety authority. Appropriate action will be taken after verification.

How To Report Unsafe Food Through The App? 

Without further ado, let us briefly tell you the steps to report unsafe food or unhygienic food practices through FSSAI’s Food Safety Connect app.

  • Download the Food Safety Connect app and register.
  • Enter the food business details, including its name, address, and FSSAI registration number (if known).
  • Describe the nature of the complaint, such as adulteration, poor hygiene, expired products, etc.
  • Upload evidence in the form of photos or videos.
  • Submit the complaint.

Once a complaint is submitted, you will receive a unique tracking ID. You can use it to track the status of your complaint. According to News18, you can use the app to report several problems. This includes adulterated food, expired products being sold, poor hygiene at restaurants, incorrect or misleading claims, and any other food safety violations. Moreover, the app also lets consumers verify whether a food business is FSSAI-licensed or registered.
