Rann Utsav in Gujarat is finally back, but with a twist. This year, Rann Utsav is expanding to Dholavira, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dholavira is an ancient Harappan city in Gujarat, known for its smart city planning, water systems, and ancient trade links. Built around 3000 BCE, it shows how advanced people were in architecture, governance, and daily life in those times. Its well-preserved remains reveal the rich heritage of the Indus Valley Civilisation.

By including Dholavira in Rann Utsav, the festival is going beyond its usual celebrations to show the rich history and culture of central Kutch. The theme, “Adhura Nahi Pura Kutch Dekhiye,” invites visitors to explore areas beyond the White Rann and experience the region’s heritage and history.

With Dholavira as part of the festival, Gujarat adds a new cultural dimension while letting people see the wonders of the Indus Valley civilisation up close, reported Travel and Tour World. The White Rann Tent City in Dhordo remains the heart of Rann Utsav. But now, travellers can also enjoy a specially designed Tent City at Dholavira.

Activities To Enjoy At Rann Utsav

At Rann Utsav, guests can experience a mix of leisure and adventure. They can play cricket or try fun activities like trampolines, bull rides, air gun shooting, and high rope courses, all set against the stunning desert backdrop. The tents and common areas at Dholavira are themed around the Harappan civilisation as well.

Sustainability Is A Key Focus

According to Travel and Tour World, for this year’s festival, sustainability is a key focus. The plans are adding eco-friendly tents, LED lighting, plastic crushers, improved waste management, and regular cleanliness drives. Like every time, Rann Utsav will continue to celebrate Kutch’s culture through live music and dance shows, storytelling sessions, craft exhibitions, and chances to meet local artisans. Visitors can also unwind with spa treatments, enjoy bicycle rides, stargaze under the clear desert sky, or watch movies at the open-air cinema.

By including Dholavira, Rann Utsav 2025 not only boosts tourism in Kutch but also supports local businesses and jobs.
