Republic Day Parade In Delhi: Check Traffic Advisory, Metro & QR-Based Parking Rules Here

A series of rules has been announced for Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. Several measures have been rolled out related to metro services, traffic movement and parking. Here is everything you need to keep in mind so that the parade takes place smoothly and citizens can travel without inconvenience. Scroll down to know more.

Rules Announced For Republic Day Parade In Delhi

Republic Day in Delhi is not your typical morning. The annual parade lifts the energy across the city, but the day also comes with stricter rules, packed metro stations, heavy security and traffic diversions. These changes can often confuse commuters. To avoid last-minute confusion, the authorities have announced multiple measures to ensure the celebrations go smoothly.

According to a report by Times Now, the Delhi Metro runs special early morning services to help people reach Kartavya Path, where the Republic Day parade takes place. The DMRC will release a Republic Day advisory closer to January 2026. Commuters are advised to keep an eye on official updates for first-train timings. Traffic movement will also be restricted at several key locations in Delhi on January 17, 19, 20 and 21. These restrictions will be in place due to rehearsals for the upcoming parade along Kartavya Path.

Traffic Restrictions During Republic Day Rehearsals

According to a report by NDTV, rehearsals will be held from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, with the route extending up to the C-Hexagon. These restrictions will remain in place from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm on all four days. Commuters are advised to avoid this stretch during rehearsal hours. Traffic crossings at Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road and the C-Hexagon will remain closed. People are also being asked to follow traffic rules and instructions given by personnel deployed on duty.

As per a report by The Hindu, spectators attending this year’s Republic Day celebrations should note a few important points. Metro announcements will guide ticket and pass holders to their respective venues. A QR-based parking system will also be in place. It will help nearly 8,000 vehicles park at designated locations close to their allotted seating enclosures.

Metro Station Details For Republic Day Parade Spectators

All enclosures for this year’s celebrations have been named after rivers, and spectators will be guided to specific metro stations based on their enclosure. Spectators seated on the southern side of Kartavya Path have been allotted enclosures such as Beas, Brahmaputra, Chambal, Chenab, Gandak, Ganga, Ghagra, Godavari, Sindhu and Jhelum. They must get off at the Udyog Bhawan metro station.

Those seated on the northern side, with enclosures including Kaveri, Kosi, Krishna, Mahanadi, Narmada, Pennar, Periyar, Ravi, Son, Satluj, Teesta, Vaigai and Yamuna, must get down at the Central Secretariat metro station.

A senior official told The Hindu that the QR code-based parking system will also assist spectators arriving by private vehicles. Parking pass holders can scan the QR code printed on their passes to receive real-time directions to the nearest available parking spots.
