If you didn’t know already, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma’s Sitar for Mental Health India Tour 2026 has officially kicked off, and at its Mumbai leg, he captivated a crowd of over 20,000 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. In what was probably one of the city’s largest-ever classical music concerts, the sitar virtuoso opened the evening with a calming guided breathing exercise, setting the tone for a deeply reflective and mindful experience.

From there, he moved into a rich repertoire of ragas, including Bihaag, Kedar, Tilak Kamod, and Shyam Kalyan, beautifully weaving them into the evocative Raag Tilak Shyam. In classic Rishab Rikhiram Sharma style, he seamlessly blended spirituality with innovation, transforming classical music into a deeply emotional and accessible experience for all.

One of the defining highlights of the evening was the Mumbai unveiling of ‘SITARA – The Next-Generation Electric Sitar’. Developed in collaboration with his father, master luthier Sanjay Sharma of the renowned Rikhi Ram lineage, it is India’s first LED sitar. As Rishab Rikhiram Sharma brought the stage alive with his music, the instrument lit up in perfect synchrony, adding a visually immersive dimension to the classical experience, and the audience loved it!

Of course, the ultimate highlight of Rishab Rikhiram Sharma’s Mumbai concert was his electrifying setlist. Blending classical depth with contemporary familiarity, he performed original compositions like Shankara, Shiv Kailash, Burning Ghat, and Roslyn. He also sampled a new song Venkateswara as an ode to Lord Krishna during the concert.

However, it was his dynamic sitar interpretation of Harry Potter x Game of Thrones that truly left the audience spellbound. His reimagining of these iconic Western themes on the sitar sparked a wave of excitement and joy that was simply indescribable.

He also performed Bollywood classics like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Zara Zara, and Tumhi Dekho Naa, along with his Himachali folk single Belua, much to the delight of Mumbaikars.
