Sambhaji Maharaj Statue In Pune Honoured By Over 100 Dhol Tasha Groups; Event Enters London Book Of Records

A massive statue of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, is being built in Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Moshi. A grand tribute was paid to this under-construction statue by over 100 dhol-tasha groups performing with more than 3,000 dhols and 1,000 tashas. Honestly, it was a sight to behold. The event has now entered the London Book of Records! 

A Grand Tribute For Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s Statue

On Sunday, September 15, the Hindbhushan Memorial Trust, in association with the Maharashtra State Dhol-Tasha Federation, organised a tribute to Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s statue. Set to be one of the world’s tallest statues dedicated to Hindbhushan, the sight was almost majestic to behold.

As per a report by the Free Press Journal, more than 100 renowned dhol-tasha groups from across Maharashtra came together for this massive celebration. The Pimpri-Chinchwad statue was honoured with the beats of over 3,000 dhols and 1,000 tashas. Thanks to this grand celebration, the event has now entered the London Book of Records, a big achievement for the organisers! X user, @fornaxAR, also posted a video showing visuals from the grand event.

Statue Expected To Be Complete Soon

According to the same report, the event was organised by the BJP’s Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge to pay tribute to the Maratha king’s statue. A huge crowd from across Pune had gathered to witness the majestic sight of the still-under-construction statue. Reportedly, many local artists and celebrities also performed at the event, which started around 3 pm and went on until evening.

The statue is expected to be completed soon. It is being built by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority. Once finished, it will be the tallest statue dedicated to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the world!
