Shiv Jayanti 2026: 151 Statues Of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Given To Devotees In Maharashtra

On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, devotees across Maharashtra marked the day in a special way. As part of the celebrations, 151 statues of Shivaji Maharaj were distributed.

Today, on February 19, we celebrate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. People across Maharashtra have come together to honour his legacy in a meaningful way. As part of a special initiative called “Shivaray in every heart; Shiv Jayanti in every home”. Scroll down to find out what this initiative is all about and why it matters.

Maharashtra Celebrating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti

On this special day, 151 small statues of Shivaji Maharaj, along with saffron flags, were distributed to devotees across Maharashtra. According to Lokmat Times, Dharmaveer Chhava Sanghatana organised the event, which took place at the office of the District Marathi Journalists’ Association.

Several prominent personalities attended the programme, including Shivcharitra scholar Dr Balaji Jadhav, entrepreneur Sadashiv Jadhav, and advocates Sadanand Sonawane, Yogesh Tupe, Sudhir Kulkarni, and Santosh Bodkhe. Deepak Laturkar was present as the chief guest. Ganesh Ugle-Patil, founder-president of the organisation, said Shiv Jayanti should be celebrated in every household.

Why Authorities Distributed These Statues?

On distributing Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj statues in homes, Ganesh Ugle-Patil shared the idea behind this initiative. He said He added that the initiative aims to help people remember and follow the ideals of Shivaji Maharaj in their daily lives. By distributing 151 statues to families, the organisation hopes to keep his teachings alive among citizens.

Overall, this initiative tries to connect people more closely with Shivaji Maharaj’s values. By placing his statues in homes and encouraging families to celebrate Shiv Jayanti, the organisation wants people to learn from his courage and strong leadership

As per Lokmat Times, Dr Balaji Jadhav also shared that the organisation is also working on social welfare projects. Recently, they distributed sewing machines to single women in need. The goal was to help these women become self-reliant and build their own livelihoods. 

Shivaji Maharaj founded the Maratha Empire and is known for his strong leadership and smart military strategies. He successfully fought many battles against the Mughal army and protected his kingdom. In the year 1674, he was formally crowned as Chhatrapati, which means emperor, marking an important moment in his rule.
