On the occasion of World Health Day, Swiggy has now upgraded its EatRight offerings with detailed tagging. These tags show more information about the ingredients and cooking methods used to prepare a dish. This new feature makes it easier for consumers to choose dishes based on their dietary preferences. Here’s how this works.
Swiggy EatRight Introduces Tags For Better Food Choices
Swiggy has announced a significant upgrade to its EatRight offering. On World Health Day, it introduced detailed tags like ‘No Added Sugar’, ‘No Maida’, and ‘No Fry’ to increase transparency around ingredients and cooking methods on its platform. These tags make it easier for consumers to choose dishes based on their dietary needs.
Swiggy has identified and tagged over 92,000 items based on specific natural and low-calorie sweeteners. It has recognised close to 30,000 items using natural sweeteners like dates and stevia, and nearly 62,000 items featuring low-calorie sweetened dishes. To access these easily, dedicated entry points have been enabled for the ‘No Added Sugar’ category. This allows people to avoid excess sugar to find healthier versions of their favourite treats like ice creams, cakes, Indian sweets, shakes, and more.
Choose Healthier Versions Of Indulgent Dishes
Apart from this, Swiggy has also identified and tagged around 1,60,000 items as ‘No Fry’ or ‘No Maida’. These include healthier versions of traditionally indulgent dishes like tandoori kebabs, grilled paneer burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, whole wheat pasta, and North Indian meals with multigrain roti. These tags ensure that you can easily choose healthier food options according to your preference.
Deepak Maloo, Vice President, Food Strategy, Customer Experience & New Initiatives at Swiggy, said, “Our goal is to make it easy for consumers to discover and choose from the better-for-you eating options.” He also added, “By leveraging advanced data mapping and deep-diving into ingredient-level data, from the specifications of sweetener in a scoop of ice cream to the cooking method of a kebab, we are giving our users the transparency they need”
