On an early Sunday morning, around six passengers required immediate medical attention after a Swiss International Air Lines flight bound for Zurich aborted its take-off at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport due to a suspected engine failure. Read on to know more about the development.

6 Injured After Delhi-Zurich Flight Aborts Take-Off

As per a report by Hindustan Times, an official told the portal that the aircraft, an Airbus A330-300 operating as flight SWR146 from Delhi to Zurich, aborted take-off from runway 28 on Sunday at 1.27 am. The aircraft was carrying around 245 people on board, and Captain Guillermo Maximiliano Mulet was the pilot in command.

The airline also took to their official social media account and issued a statement: “We are aware of an incident involving flight LX147 in Delhi. The aircraft involved is an Airbus A330, registration HB-JHK. SWISS has established a task force. There were 228 passengers and four infants on board. Shortly after take-off, just after 1 am local time in India, an issue occurred with one of the engines. The crew rejected the take-off and, following an assessment of the situation, decided as a precaution to evacuate the aircraft.”

Emergency At The Delhi Airport

Post which, a full emergency was declared at around 1:35 am, and Runway 28 was blocked. Not only this, but smoke was also reported on the left side of the aircraft and fire near the right landing gear. Additionally, the airline crew evacuated all the passengers on the runway as a safety measure. As per the news portal, six passengers are currently receiving medical attention. The Airline officials also stated that all passengers are currently being assisted and the local teams are working to arrange rebookings and accommodation.
