TAT News (official newsroom of the Travel Authority of Thailand) has confirmed that travel and tourism activities across the country remain normal and unaffected. However, border safety measures have been strengthened across eastern and northeastern Thailand. This means while tourism continues as usual in most parts of the country, security measures remain active in selected areas of seven provinces along the Thailand-Cambodia border.

Reportedly, a ceasefire between Thai and Cambodian forces is in effect right now, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Here are the seven provinces with heightened security measures: Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat. You would also like to know that domestic and international transport services (air, rail, bus, and ferry) are operating normally in the country.

Major Tourist Destinations Remain Open

According to TAT News, major tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, and Ayutthaya continue to welcome tourists. However, travellers are being advised to avoid restricted zones and checkpoints along the Thailand-Cambodia border.

Entry and exit are currently suspended in specific areas within the seven eastern and northeastern provinces. But don’t worry; tourism activities in the wider provinces remain unaffected and continue to operate under supervision. Tourists are urged to follow local authority guidance and stay updated with official announcements before planning their visit.

According to TAT News, the following areas are closed:

  • Ubon Ratchathani: Chong An Ma Checkpoint and Yod Dom Wildlife Sanctuary.
