Thane Metro To Start In December, Says Maharashtra DyCM

From local trains and autos to cabs and buses, commuting for Thane residents is a task! The nearest metro station for the folks in the city is in Ghatkopar. Well, we have some good news, the Thane Metro is nearing completion, promising major relief for residents. Metro train services in the city are expected to officially begin in December. Before officially launching the metro services by the end of the year, officials are planning trial runs in September to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations.

As per Press Trust of India (PTI), the construction is moving at a fast pace. The metro authorities will connect Thane Metro to the main Mumbai metro line to ensure seamless services. As per the Times Now reports, Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said that when this metro service start, people residing in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) can travel easily–without long waiting periods or complicated changes, the new service will ensure smooth travel to different areas.

As per News18, during his speech, Eknath Shinde mentioned that the new metro link will connect Wadala, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, and Mumbai. It will also run internally within the Thane. 

Heavy traffic on Thane roads has become a source of daily stress for Thane people. New roads and increased population have caused major traffic congestion in some areas. Commuters are trapped on roads for hours because of the congestion everyday. The new metro service will play a significant role in reducing traffic in the city.
