A woman’s Rapido ride from Delhi to Greater Noida turned traumatic after the Rapido driver (‘captain’) allegedly harassed her after dropping her home. The incident was recently shared by Shaivya Vashishtha on Instagram so that it could reach everyone, and the Rapido app has now responded to the incident. Here’s what happened.
Woman Alleges Rapido Driver Harassed Her After Late-Night Ride
Many women in India rely on apps like Rapido to commute, but sometimes these rides can become traumatic. One such incident was recently shared by Shaivya Vashishtha on her Instagram account. She alleged that Rapido leaked her phone number, after which the driver harassed her, leaving her traumatised.
According to her post, she booked a Rapido ride from Delhi to Greater Noida around 11 pm. When she sat in the car, the driver allegedly started playing inappropriate songs, making her uncomfortable. After dropping her home around 12-12:30 am, he allegedly called Shaivya around 1 am, but she blocked his number. However, according to her, the harassment continued through multiple calls from other numbers.
Shaivya also alleged that the Rapido driver video-called her from another number, and that too from a bathroom, which was highly inappropriate. The video call traumatised and scared her. She hung up the call, but then the driver allegedly started calling her back-to-back.

Rapido Responds To The Incident
Shaivya wrote in the caption, “This incident traumatised me. I really want to test the power of the internet today – will this story be heard and shared? A rapido driver constantly harassed me by massively audio and video calling me from several numbers!!!”
Rapido has now responded to the incident and wrote, “Hi Shaivya, we’re truly sorry you had to go through such a distressing experience. No one should ever feel unsafe during or after a ride. Please know that we take such concerns very seriously, and behaviour of this nature is completely unacceptable on our platform.”
The company clarified that customer mobile numbers are masked on Rapido, which is why they would like to investigate the matter further. Rapido also asked Shaivya to share her registered mobile number and ride details so that the authorities could assist her better.
Many netizens were angered by the situation and asked Rapido to take strict action against the driver. One user wrote, “Ohhhh god this needs a serious action, and it’s really scary. I am glad that you’re safe,” while another commented, “Oh god this is sick, similar thing happened with me too last year, didn’t get video calls, but he kept texting me on WhatsApp.”
