Akasa Air Introduces Apple Pay for International Travellers
Akasa Air is the first airline in India to offer Apple Pay for international passengers. According to Travel and Tour World, travellers using Apple devices can now pay with just one tap, secured through Face ID or Touch ID. But why did the airline take this step? International payments often take longer because of security checks, currency conversions, and banking rules. These steps can lead to failed payments or abandoned bookings.
By adding Apple Pay, Akasa Air removes much of this hassle. Passengers no longer need to type card details or go through multiple verification steps. Payments can now be confirmed instantly, making checkout faster and smoother. The airline will continue to offer a range of payment methods for domestic travellers. These payment methods include UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, digital wallets, EMI plans, and pay-later services.
In talks with The Economic Times, the airline’s Chief Marketing Officer said that the addition of Apple Pay is a key step in enhancing their digital platform, providing travellers worldwide with secure and seamless payment experiences.

Benefits Travellers in Many Ways
For international travellers, the introduction of Apple Pay is a game-changer. As per Travel and Tour World, the checkout time gets reduced, and the chances of payment failure drop significantly. Frequent international flyers, in particular, save time and avoid the frustration of long booking processes. Most importantly, the airline also strengthens trust by using a payment method already familiar to many global travellers.
Since 2022, Akasa Air has been operating 31 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, connecting 26 cities in India and six international destinations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
