Kurkure was a go-to snack for many of us in childhood, and it still is. Its spicy taste is enough to make our mouths water. Today, we usually buy it for ₹10 to ₹30 from the market. But a Reddit user (u/puran_polio) recently unearthed an old packet of Kurkure Masala Munch buried underground. The packet looked very old, dirty, and torn. The back of the packet also mentions other flavours such as Naughty Tomato, Green Chutney, Chilli Chatka, and Hyderabadi Hungama.
The Reddit user said the print on the packet was still readable. They called it a “time capsule”. The most surprising detail was the price. The same snack that costs ₹10 today once sold for just ₹2, even though it was a small packet. It sounds unbelievable, right? The Redditor also claimed that the taste back then was different from how Kurkure tastes now.

The differences did not stop there. The Reddit user also pointed out that the ingredients list was much simpler and shorter. There was no mention of palm oil. Honestly speaking, we were also stunned to see such an old Kurkure packet on social media. Believe it or not, the post is going viral.
Netizens had mixed reactions. One person wrote, “Main bhi khaata tha Kurkure” (I used to eat Kurkure too). Another commented, “I remember having this 2 rupees ka kurkure with Cadbury Bytes in my childhood, peak nostalgia unlocked!” Many people felt nostalgic and travelled back to their childhood.
At the same time, some users raised concerns. They pointed out that even after so many years, the plastic packet was still intact. They said this showed how harmful plastic packaging can be for the environment. Many others debated how old the packet really was.
