The International Space Station (ISS) has shared a list of some of the brightest and most luminous urban areas seen from space. Along with Tokyo and Singapore, our Delhi is shining bright. The picture of Delhi from above shows the city’s night-time view, and believe us when we tell you that it looks breathtakingly beautiful. Scroll down to know all about this.
ISS Shares Night-Time Images Of Delhi & Other Urban Areas
The International Space Station shared a series of images on its official X account. The photos show urban areas like Delhi, Singapore, Tokyo and São Paulo among the most luminous places across the world. The photos were captured at night from the ISS. All four images looked beautiful. ISS also mentioned that Delhi, home to approximately 34.67 million people, is the second-largest metropolitan area in the world after Tokyo.
The photo of Delhi was taken around 10:54 pm from the ISS. The image shows the city split by the Yamuna River. It looks stunning, right? According to the post, the bright rectangular area near the right centre marks Indira Gandhi International Airport, one of the busiest aviation hubs in South Asia.

Singapore, Tokyo & São Paulo Also Glow In The Pictures
Apart from Delhi, ISS shared other brightly lit urban centres. It included Singapore, Tokyo in Japan and São Paulo in Brazil. Singapore, which features the famous Changi Airport, looks beautiful in the image shared by ISS. Talking about Tokyo, the city and its surrounding suburbs along Tokyo Bay light up at night with stops along major rail lines “glittering like pearls”. Meanwhile, São Paulo’s use of white LED lights reflects the city’s energy-efficient efforts for the environment.
Delhi, being among the brightest-looking urban areas from the ISS, was not on our bingo cards this year. And naturally, netizens were quite happy. One of them wrote, “I can even point out my road on the Delhi map. It’s so beautiful.” Another wrote, “Really marvellous. Feel something like a Sci-Fi movie, like something coming out of Earth.”
