Travelling Late At Night? Mumbai Local Services Between CSMT & Kurla To Be Affected Till June 25

Mumbai Division’s Central Railway will operate specialised traffic and power blocks between Matunga and Kurla from June 17 to 25. It will also suspend suburban services between CSMT and Kurla during midnight hours each night. Want to know more about it? Read on!

CSMT-Kurla To Hit Block For 15 Days

As per a report by News18, the train blocks will last for two to four hours per session and are part of the current 5th and 6th line projects between CSMT and Kurla. The Central Railway issues a press release stating that the blocks will be applied strictly during late-night hours to reduce passenger impact. The work includes raising girders on the Sion Road Over Bridge (Kalyan end). This is said to be a significant infrastructure milestone in the capacity development drive on one of Mumbai’s busiest rail stretches.

The midnight blocks will run across multiple nights from June 17 to June 25th.

• June 17–18, between 01:10 hrs and 03:10 hrs

• June 18–19, between 00:45 hrs and 03:45 hrs

• June 19–20 and 20–21, between 01:10 hrs and 02:40 hrs

 June 21–22 to 24–25, between 01:10 hrs and 03:10 hrs

The affected section extends from Matunga to Kurla across all lines.

What All Trains Will Be Suspended?

Suburban services between CSMT and Kurla stations will be cancelled for the duration of each block. Specific cancellations include CSMT-Thane local, which runs at 00:24 hrs and will be cancelled from June 17th to 20th. On the other hand, the Thane-CSMT local, which runs at 04:04 hrs, will be cancelled from June 17th to 20th.

On June 18–19, additional modifications apply to the Badlapur–Parel, Khopoli–Parel, and Badlapur–CSMT locals, which will be short-terminated at Kurla, while the Thane–Kurla local will be expanded up to CSMT.

The blocks are a part of the infrastructure upgrade in order to add the 5th and 6th lines between CSMT and Kurla. This is an expansion that is aimed at boosting suburban rail passenger capacity and improving safety on the route. Passengers have been urged to plan travel properly and cooperate with the railway management.
