A US B1/B2 visa is a common non-immigrant visa for temporary visits. It is mostly used for tourism, vacations, or short-term business activities. However, the application process and approval can be challenging for many applicants. Now, the US Embassy in India has issued a fresh warning regarding the use of this visa. According to its X post, the B1/B2 visa comes with certain rules. Visa holders must follow them and use the visa “correctly” to avoid facing issues at the port of entry.
The officials also uploaded an animated video to help the visa holders clearly understand what they can and cannot do on a B1/B2 visa. They explained that during the visa interview, if a consular officer believes that an applicant does not intend to follow the visitor visa rules, the application may be rejected. The embassy further stated that it is the applicant’s responsibility to use the visa correctly. They also advised applicants to be fully aware of what they are allowed and not allowed to do while visiting the United States on a B1/B2 visitor visa.

Misusing Visa Can Lead To A Permanent Ban
If a tourist is found misusing their visa or staying longer than permitted, they could be permanently banned from future travel to the United States. This is why knowing and following all visa rules is extremely important. The US Embassy in India also advised applicants to know more about these rules on travel.state.gov/visas.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the United States Embassy has also issued a similar warning for international students. Officials stated that if a student violates US laws, they could be deported and have their student visa revoked. The embassy further warned that violating US laws or being arrested could make international students ineligible for US visas in the future.
