Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway Gets A Major Boost With New 8-Lane Corridor

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Gujarat and Daman for a day-long infrastructure blitz. He will also lay the foundation stone of the Vadodara-Mumbai expressway, laying the foundation for development projects worth ₹22,655 crore across Surat, Daman and the UT of Lakshadweep. The main highlight in Surat is the focus of Packages VI and VII of the 8-lane Access-Controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, which is said to be one of western India’s most ambitious road projects. As per a report by NDTV, the expressway is aimed at boosting high-speed mobility, logistics productivity, and economic access between Gujarat and Maharashtra.

PM Modi will lay the ground stone for the four-laning of key sections on NH-56. The NH-56 expressway will cut through the tribal regions of Gujarat, and the upgraded road is expected to substantially boost connectivity for tribal communities while also enhancing access to the Statue of Unity on the Narmada River.

Major Infrastructure Boost In Gujarat

Other than this, the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat, improving power rescue capacity under the Inter-State Transmission System. He will also inaugurate power distribution upgrade projects under the Revamped Reforms-Based Distribution Sector Scheme in Valsad.

Completing the Surat agenda, PM will also inaugurate a 200-bed ESIC Hospital offering advanced secondary healthcare across major specialities, backed by a central laboratory and round-the-clock emergency and trauma care for medical emergencies.

After which, PM Modi will travel to Daman, where projects worth ₹2,970 crore are lined up. The New Terminal Building of NAMO Airport is all set to open. This facility is expected to greatly enhance regional air connectivity and promote business activity in the union territory. This is followed by the dedication of NAMO Hospital, the hospital of Daman, constructed to handle nearly 1,500 outpatient visits per day, significantly strengthening access to quality healthcare for residents.
