Video: Indian Air Force Airlifts 85-YO Paralysed Woman After Snowfall Blocks Himachal’s Roads

The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted an emergency medical evacuation of an 85-year-old paralysed woman from Dhanderwari in Himachal Pradesh. The IAF had to step in as the roads to the remote Himachal village were blocked due to heavy snowfall.

On Sunday, the Indian Air Force carried out an urgent medical evacuation of an 85-year-old paralysed woman from the remote village of Dhanderwari in Himachal Pradesh after heavy snowfall cut off all road access. She was airlifted to Chandigarh, reached the hospital in time, and is currently stable while receiving treatment.

The Indian Air Force shared a video on X showing the urgent medical evacuation from a remote village in Himachal Pradesh. According to NDTV, the rescue was carried out at an altitude of around 9,000 feet above mean sea level amid snowfall and poor visibility, with the paralysed woman being airlifted after all road access to the village was cut off.

The video shows the 85-year-old woman being carried on a stretcher to an IAF Cheetah helicopter. In the X post, the IAF said, “This was after snowfall blocked all roads. The life-saving mission was completed in snowfall and low visibility. The woman is stable after receiving timely medical assistance.”

In other news, the Indian Air Force also delivered nearly 40,000 litres of water in fire-hit Manipur in over three days. As per Hindustan Times report, IAF’s Mi-17 V5 choppers delivered “water amid fire, wind and low visibility” in the region.

Snowfall In Himachal Pradesh

Over the last few days, Himachal Pradesh received significant snowfall. In fact, the state’s Shillaroo and Kothi areas reported 5 cm of snow. Seeing the current weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh spell of rain and snowfall across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir this week, The Economic Times reported.
