Want Your Dhaniya To Last Longer? Restaurateur Kabir Chugh Shares 2 Easy-Peasy Hacks!

Fresh Dhaniya

Do you also find it tough to store dhaniya, just like us? This common herb, used in most of our Indian recipes, has a knack for wilting and drying out quickly. But not anymore. Restaurateur and entrepreneur Kabir Chugh has shared two amazing tricks that not only keep the dhaniya fresh but also prevents it from wilting. And believe us, you definitely want to know these easy-peasy hacks!

Dhaniya Hacks To Keep Them Fresh For Longer

We are sure you have also faced this situation. You get fresh green dhaniya from the market, use some leaves in your food, refrigerate the remaining, and then find it dry and wilted after two days. Coriander is not expensive, but seeing it spoil after one or two days is not something we like. It is one of the most used herbs in Indian recipes, and we use it almost every day. But what if we tell you that using proper methods to store it can keep it fresh for longer? Kabir Chugh, a restaurateur and entrepreneur, took to his Instagram and revealed two ways to do that.

The first technique is simple. Take a paper towel, put the dhaniya in the middle, splash some water on it for moisture, wrap the dhaniya properly, put it in a container, close it properly, and store it in the fridge. He also advised cutting the roots and the spoiled leaves before storing. Many people believe moisture can spoil coriander. But this happens only if the water is used in excess. The right amount keeps the moisture balanced and prevents it from drying up.

The Glass Jar Trick

The second technique is easier for homes. According to Kabir Chugh, this is one of the best ways to keep dhaniya fresh for the longest, and the best part? You don’t even need to keep it in the fridge. Take a glass jar and put coriander inside after cutting off the roots. The coriander will absorb the water and will stay fresh for longer. Kabir also mentioned that you should always place the jar in a cool spot near a window for some sunlight. Make sure not to place the jar in a hot area near the stove, or the coriander leaves will die.

Kabir admits that even after years in the kitchen, he hadn’t known these simple hacks, until his maasi from Dubai showed him the trick. And honestly, it’s amazing. Though both techniques are great, the first one works better for restaurants and cloud kitchens, while the second one is great for homes with windows and sunlight. Many of his followers thanked him for these tricks. One of them also wrote, “I liked your tareeka. My mom will be really khush after watching this video.”
