The post on Reddit by krono55 highlighted how taxi mafias are behaving in Goa. the user revealed the whole scene writing, “Thought renting a car would save us from the Goa taxi scene. Nope.” In the post, he mentioned there were four friends on Goa trip and they decided to book a rented car instead of relying on local taxi. Continuing he mentioned that the first two days went smoothly and they enjoyed driving around North Goa without facing any problems.
However, things changed on the third day of their trip. According to the tourist, a local taxi driver rammed into the left side of their rented car while they were parking. Instead of accepting responsibility for the accident, the taxi driver allegedly became aggressive. Soon, he called a few more local cab drivers to the spot, which turned the situation into a heated roadside argument.

Why Tourists Had To Pay Money?
The tourist mentioned that the argument continued for nearly 30 minutes. Although the matter did not become physical, the entire incident disturbed the group and ruined the mood of their holiday. In the end, the taxi driver reportedly paid them Rs 5,000 after a long argument. However, the rental company later charged the group nearly Rs 20,000 for the damages caused to the vehicle.
After the incident, the tourists no longer felt comfortable continuing their trip. They decided to cut their Goa vacation short and left the next day. In the end the Reddit user added,”we ended up paying taxi mafia anyway.”
Incidents like these raise concerns about how transport-related issues are affecting tourists in Goa.
