What Inclusions Can RAC Ticket Holders Expect On Train Journeys?

Good news for passengers travelling with RAC tickets on Indian Railways. They are now fully entitled to receive an individual, complete bedroll kit just like confirmed passengers. Keep reading to know what this bedroll includes if you are travelling on an RAC seat. 

Travellers With RAC Tickets To Get Complete Bedroll Kit

RAC stands for Reservation Against Cancellation. It is a ticket where you can travel on a train but do not get a full private sleeping berth. Instead, you are given a shared seat, typically half of a side lower berth to sit on. For years, many passengers with RAC tickets complained of not getting a complete bedroll kit like confirmed passengers, and Indian Railways has listened to them.

According to The Indian Express, the authorities have clarified that RAC passengers in AC coaches are entitled to receive a complete bedroll kit. The charges for the bedroll are already included in the ticket fare. However, this rule does not apply to AC Chair Car coaches.

Indian Railways Directs All Railway Zones To Follow Orders

The decision is quite fair as RAC passengers have already paid for the bedroll charges, and having a bedroll kit is an important requirement in AC Class. According to The Economic Times, the ministry has directed all railway zones to ensure strict compliance with the Railway Board’s instructions.

They do not want RAC passengers to face any inconvenience during their journey. This means passengers with RAC tickets will now receive two bedsheets, one blanket, one pillow, and one face towel/hand towel. This means your journey will now get extra comfortable even though you will be getting only a half berth.

Every year, many people allegedly steal blankets, pillow covers and face towels by tucking them into their bags before getting off the train. Make sure you do not do that, as it causes loss to the Railways and can also invite action against passengers.
