We’re excitedly waiting for the bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to begin operations. The project is already in progress. However, due to some infrastructure work linked to it, Western Railway has announced temporary changes in a few train services. Read on to know more!
Temporary Train Changes For Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project will bring temporary changes in some train operations on April 13. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before travelling. According to the Free Press Journal, train No. 12009 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express will depart from Mumbai Central later than usual. It will be delayed by around 1 hour and 15 minutes on the affected day.
Meanwhile, Train No. 20901 Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express will not run up to Gandhinagar Capital on that day. Instead, it will be short-terminated at Vatva station. This means passengers travelling beyond Vatva will need to make alternative arrangements. In the return direction, Train No. 20902 Gandhinagar Capital–Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express will not originate from Gandhinagar Capital. Instead, it will start from Vatva station.

When Will Regular Operations Begin?
Western Railway has announced that these changes are temporary and regular operations are expected to resume once the block is completed. As per the Free Press Journal, apart from long-distance trains, suburban services will also be affected due to maintenance work. A five-hour jumbo block will be taken on the fast lines between Santacruz and Goregaon from 10 AM to 3 PM.
During this block period, railway teams will work on track maintenance, signalling systems, and overhead equipment. To manage train movement, all fast line trains will be diverted to run on the slow lines between Santacruz and Goregaon.
