Bengaluru usually has plenty of places to buy alcohol, but for the next two days, liquor sales will be banned in certain areas. The city authorities have introduced this temporary restriction to maintain peace and public safety during the upcoming protests. Here’s all you need to know!

Bengaluru Imposes 2-Day Liquor Ban

Bengaluru is putting a two-day ban on liquor sales because of upcoming protests. As per News18, the Karnataka Reservation Protection Federation will hold a rally at Freedom Park on March 24, while the Karnataka State Right-Handed Castes Federation plans its demonstration on March 25.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kliqumar Singh has announced a temporary ban on alcohol. It will start at 6 AM on Wednesday, March 24, and last until 10 PM on Thursday, March 25. The restriction covers all liquor shops, bars, and restaurants in eight areas, including Upparpet, City Market, Cottonpet, Kalasipalyam, Chamarajpet, Sheshadripuram, High Grounds, and Halasur Gate.

Aim Behind The Liquor Ban

Police say the liquor ban is all about keeping things safe and under control. New18 reported that with big crowds expected at the protests, they want to avoid any trouble caused by people drinking. The idea is simple: fewer drinks, fewer risks, and a safer city for everyone.

Bengaluru isn’t new to temporary alcohol bans. Earlier this month, authorities had a similar rule during the Huskur Madduramma Jatra and Dharmaraya Swamy Jatra Mahotsava. From March 14 to 15, liquor shops and bars in areas under Parappana Agrahara and Hebbagodi police stations stayed closed. Clubs and star hotels, however, were still allowed to serve drinks.

For the upcoming protests, police are keeping safety a top priority. Extra security will be posted around sensitive spots, and residents are asked to cooperate. The idea is to keep things calm, prevent any clashes, and make sure everyone can go about their day safely, even during big demonstrations.
