54 Train Services To Skip Chandigarh For 36 Days

According to The Indian Express, Indian Railways has decided to short-terminate and short-originate 54 train trips for 36 days at Chandigarh Railway Station, beginning on September 10. Passengers on these trains will have to end their train journey at Ambala Cantonment station and use taxis or other alternative means of transport to reach Chandigarh.

Among the services that will have Ambala as the boarding or deboarding point are the Ramnagar-Chandigarh Express (15063/15068), Ajmer-Chandigarh-Ajmer Garib Rath (12983/12984) and the Udaipur-Chandigarh-Udaipur Express (20989/20990). Passengers Advised To Check Latest Train Status

This means that passengers travelling on these trains will have to make time for an additional journey between Chandigarh and Ambala Cantt. People who are starting their journey from Chandigarh will have to reach Ambala Cantt to board the affected train.

According to The Indian Express, the disruption is the result of planned foot overbridge work at Chandigarh Railway Station. Lines 6, 7 and 8 will be blocked from September 10 to 21. Lines 4 and 5 will be blocked from September 22 to October 3, and lines 1, 2 and 3 will be blocked from October 4 to 15. Indian Railways has also announced temporary additional halts at Mohali station for several trains. These include:

  • Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express (18309/18101)
  • Agra Cantt-Hoshiarpur (11905/11906)
  • Saharsa-Amritsar Jan Sadharan Express (15531/15532)
