This is for people who love exploring wildlife through jungle safaris. The Chhattisgarh Forest Department is all set to launch a Hornbill Safari in the Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve. The initiative will help strengthen wildlife conservation while also creating livelihoods for local communities. Here’s what you can expect.
Chhattisgarh To Launch Its 1st Dedicated Hornbill Safari
Chhattisgarh’s first dedicated Hornbill Safari will be centred around the growing population of the beautiful Malabar Pied Hornbill, which is sometimes referred to as the ‘flying ambassador of the forest’. According to The Times of India, the safari will be planned in the Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve. It is renowned for its biodiversity, especially the highly endangered Asiatic Wild Buffalo.
The Hornbill Safari in Chhattisgarh will begin soon and is also expected to create job opportunities for residents of remote villages located within the reserve landscape. While most jungle safaris in India focus on tigers and leopards, this one will give wildlife lovers a chance to see the striking black-and-white hornbills in their natural habitat.

A Perfect Safari For Bird-Watchers
According to The Times of India, the Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh has witnessed a steady increase in hornbill sightings in recent years. These birds play a crucial role in maintaining forest health by acting as master seed dispersers across native woodlands. Sightings will be easier, as hornbills are known to be exceptionally loud. Their noise will help visitors find them in the jungle.
Apart from these birds, visitors may also be lucky enough to spot the Indian Pitta, Brown Fish Owl, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, woodpeckers, Indian Giant Squirrel and the elusive Indian Giant Flying Squirrel. The tiger reserve is also home to animals like Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, Indian Wild Dog and sloth bears. Visitors may also spot hyenas and various species of deer.
