“World Is Sleeping On Coimbatore,” X User Feels The City Will Become Next Bengaluru; Netizens React

When it’s about big cities in the southern part of India, places like Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru are the first that come to our mind. But with its steady growth, Coimbatore has caught people’s attention. This was highlighted by an X user recently, and his post has sparked a debate online.

X Post Highlights Coimbatore’s Steady Growth

In the post, user Sidharth (@Cloudwatch199) mentions how the city is growing better than other big cities. “The world is sleeping on Coimbatore. While everyone’s chasing hype in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, Coimbatore is quietly building factories, startups, and talent. Sometimes the places no one talks about are the ones that matter most,” he shared.

This post has sparked a debate among online users, with many of them agreeing with the X user.

Netizens’ Reaction To This Post

Many netizens agreed with Sidharth. One of them wrote, “Coimbatore – self-made City! Coimbatore’s economy is robust and driven by strong private sector industries & industrialists who work silently on the holistic development of the City.”

Another user added, “Noticed or Unnoticed, Coimbatore Is A Steady Performer!”

Feeling that Coimbatore has potential, one user wrote, “With the valley weather, it’s perfectly suited to be the next Silicon Valley (SV) of India. Tamil Nadu (TN) is pushing on it and hopes the GoI will do the same, beyond local politics. CBE is untapped.”

“Coimbatore & Madurai with surrounding districts have all along been growing much more than metropolis Chennai,” one comment read.

One user also added, “Soon, all major IT companies might shift to Coimbatore.”

The post also received negative comments that read, “When I shifted from Bengaluru to Coimbatore, I thought Coimbatore must have a good city to live in. But the worst infrastructure is in Coimbatore. Except for a few areas, the rest are still in the village format only. All intercity connection roads are 10-foot-wide roads only.”

Some declared that this city was already an industrial hub and wrote, “No, no one is sleeping on Coimbatore, those who are related to the industry know it. It’s not quietly building anything; it’s already there. It’s not seen because it’s a hardcore engineer hub minus the Glamour of IT.”
