World’s Tallest Shivling Is On Its Journey From Tamil Nadu To Bihar
The world’s tallest Shivling is currently on its long 2100 km journey as it travels from Tamil Nadu to the upcoming Virat Ramayan Temple in Bihar. According to a report by ETV Bharat, this massive Shivling is carved from a single granite stone in the Pattikadu area near Mahabalipuram. It took artisans ten years of work to craft it with special attention to its intricate carving, balance and overall beauty. The estimated cost of the Shivling is around ₹3 crore.
The Shivling is 33 feet tall and weighs 210 tonnes. A special 96-wheel hydraulic trailer was arranged to carry it on this long journey, which is expected to take 20-25 days. Devotees are preparing for a grand welcome along the entire route from Mahabalipuram to Chakia. Special platforms are also being built in several cities. These platforms will be used for procession, worship and darshan. The truck carrying the Shivling will stop at many locations where priests will perform rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The Virat Ramayan Temple To Open Soon For Devotees
According to ETV Bharat, the local administration, police and the Mahavir Temple Trust Committee are working together to plan the route and manage the traffic and crowd. Barricades are being installed at every stop so devotees can pray safely. This tallest Shivling will be the largest monolithic granite Shivling to be installed in any temple in the country. It will become the main attraction of the Virat Ramayan Mandir.
The temple, being built by the Mahavir Mandir Trust, Patna, will be 1080 feet long and 540 feet wide. The walls will be engraved with scenes from the Ramayana. The temple will also have 22 shrines, 18 spires and a 270-foot-high main spire. Several major construction works have already been completed. These include the entrance gate, Ganesh Sthal, Singh Dwar, Nandi and the piling of the sanctum sanctorum. Work is now underway for the installation of this world’s tallest Shivling.
The Shivling is currently travelling from Tamil Nadu to Bihar. Upon arrival at Chakia, the ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ will be performed at an auspicious time. Prominent saints from across the country and thousands of devotees are expected to take part. The temple authorities plan to open the temple to devotees in a phased manner soon.
