Get Discount On Mumbai Metro Lines 2A & 7
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited have now announced this initiative. According to Mid-Day, they have enabled booking of QR-based tickets for Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7. Commuters can now book tickets directly on the Uber app using the Open Network for Digital Commerce.
Commuters can purchase tickets using the app and avail an instant 50% discount capped at ₹10. The initiative was recently announced by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It should be noted that Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 currently serve over 3.5 lakh passengers every day. This new integration will further help boost the numbers, along with convenience.

Authorities Planning To Add More Routes
According to Mid-Day, Metro ticketing through ONDC is already accessible on various platforms. These include Yatri, Ixigo, Navi, EMT, Tummoc, Tripozo, One Ticket, Autope, Magicpin, RedBus, WhatsApp and more. The addition of Uber gives metro commuters one more option to book their tickets.
Plus, booking online also eliminates the need to stand in long queues at stations. Reportedly, around 72% of tickets for Lines 2A and 7 are already booked digitally. The feature is currently limited to these lines. Authorities are planning to include more routes as well. This initiative also promises to improve last-mile connectivity and make travel easier for daily commuters of the metro. At the same time, digital ticketing also removes the need to carry paper tickets, which can easily get lost, damaged or misplaced during travel.
