Disha Madan Shares How She Started Her Journey As A Dancer

In a recent episode of Tere Gully Mein, dancer and actor Disha Madan opened up about her love for food, her dancing journey and her acting career. From learning dance at the age of three to getting her first-ever acting break at the age of 21, read on to know how Disha Madan made her own name in the industry.

Disha Madan On Her Journey As A Dancer

When asked about how she started her journey as a dancer, Disha said, “I started dancing at the age of 3 and a half. My mom’s dream for me was to always be a singer or a dancer or have some artistic background.” She further explained how she never thought she would make a profession out of this; she just learnt Bharatnatyam to gain the knowledge, and just like that, she went on to learn for 18 to 19 years. She also revealed she cleared all of her major exams in Bharatnatyam.

Talking about her career, she revealed how her journey shifted from dancing to acting after getting a call from popular Kannada director Milana Prakash. At the time, Disha was doing a dance reality show on TV, which caught the director’s attention. She also recalled being just 21 when he reached out and called her in for a meeting, which became a turning point in her career.

Disha Madan On Casting Couches And More

Talking about her acting career, she also spoke about how she has been really fortunate to never experience casting couches. She said, “I have been very fortunate not to have had any instances like that happen to me. One, because I have always been accompanied by my mother. When I was of that age and slowly as I grew older, I knew how to handle myself. It’s not that I faced a situation when I had to handle myself, but if I had, I would have handled it.”

Recalling her first-ever audition, she told us how she was given a script and was asked to read the lines, and that was it; she was then asked by the director to be on set from the next day onwards.
