Indian Embassy In Abu Dhabi Says Passport Service Portal Will Be Down For 4 Days Due To Maintenance; Details Inside

If you’re planning to renew your Indian passport or apply for one this weekend, hit the brakes! The Indian passport service portal is taking a little halt for four days due to technical maintenance. Starting from 6:30 pm on September 20, the portal will be out of service until 4:30 am on September 24. Yep, that’s four whole days without any passport-related services, including the emergency ‘Tatkaal’ ones. Here’s all the info you need to navigate this pause like a pro.

So, what exactly is on hold? The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has announced that during this window, all passport services will be unavailable. Whether you were planning to get a new passport or hoping to snag a police clearance certificate, those plans will have to wait.

For those with scheduled appointments on September 21, don’t stress! Your appointment will automatically be rescheduled for a new date between September 23 and September 27. If that new date doesn’t work for you, here’s the good news: you can waltz into any BLS International centre as a walk-in after the revised date. No need to book a new appointment, just show up with your passport application in hand and you’re good to go.

Bad news for those hoping to speed through the process with an emergency ‘Tatkaal’ passport. This service will also be taking a break. But here’s a silver lining: other consular and visa services at the BLS centres will still be running on September 21. So, if you need any other help besides passport-related services, those doors are wide open.

This four-day digital shutdown might cause some headaches for travellers and applicants. So, while the Indian passport portal hits pause, use the time to double-check your application, gather any missing paperwork, or just enjoy the calm before the administrative storm. Once the service is back online on September 24, you’ll be ready to roll. The temporary service suspension might be an inconvenience, but it’s only four days. Once the portal is back in action, you’ll be able to zip through the process. So, don’t panic and get ready to breeze through the rescheduled dates without a hitch!
