Indian Govt Asks Indian Nationals To Avoid Any Non-Essential Travel To Myanmar; Issues Advisory

Myanmar’s security situation is simply deteriorating further. Amid clashes between government forces and anti-junta factions in the country, the Indian government has issued an advisory. The Indian government has advised all its Indian nationals to make sure that they avoid non-essential travel to the country.

Indian Govt Issues Advisory For Indian Nationals In Myanmar

India issued an advisory to its citizens in Myanmar on Tuesday. All Indian nationals residing in Myanmar, with the exception of transient visitors, have been advised by the government to register with the Indian Embassy in Yangon.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, registering with the Embassy would make it easier to take any necessary action in the event of an emergency or as needed. Indian nationals living in Myanmar are requested by the ministry to download, complete, and return both hard and soft copies of the registration form found on this website to the embassy.

In addition, two color passport-size photos of every family member have been requested, along with one copy of each person’s passport’s first, last, and current visa pages for verification.

The authorities mentioned that there won’t be a registration fee. The applicant will receive a certificate of registration in the mail within a month. The ministry further stated that paperwork may be submitted in person or by authorized representatives who must exhibit an authority letter and evidence of identity. (As per Hindustan Times)

India’s Call For Peace

Insurgent organizations representing ethnic minorities and pro-democracy fighters are presently launching attacks on Myanmar’s ruling military in an effort to overthrow the junta and seize territory. One of the groups participating, the Three Brotherhood Alliance, is committed to overthrowing the military rule and fighting internet gambling scam centers along the Myanmar-China border.

Last week, India urged for an end to the bloodshed and a productive conversation in response to fighting between government troops and anti-junta factions in Myanmar, which resulted in people from that country fleeing to Mizoram.

In response to inquiries regarding the recent fighting, Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs in Myanmar, repeated their call for the restoration of democracy, peace, and stability in that country.

Bagchi had stated that India’s stance on the circumstances in Myanmar is quite clear: we desire an end to the bloodshed and a peaceful settlement of the conflict via discussion.

People Displaced Because Of Security Concerns

Around 90,000 people have been displaced by the fighting, which has worsened since last month, according to the UN.

Following further violence, more than 26,000 people from Myanmar’s Rakhine state were forced to flee, and about 5,000 of them crossed into the Indian state of Mizoram. India has demanded that there be no further bloodshed and that issues be resolved amicably.

The current conflict in Myanmar began in 2021 and, since then, has only intensified with time. A huge number of people have since taken refuge in India.
