Certain food opinions are considered sacrosanct. Dal Chawal and khichdi are comfort food items, pineapple doesn’t belong on pizzas, Indian food is more than butter chicken and naan, and many more. Among the long list of Indian comfort food items is Kadhi Chawal. People across the country would eat this dish day after day without ever getting tired. However, it doesn’t seem like everyone agrees. Recently, an Indian journalist shared his controversial opinion wherein he said that Kadhi Chawal was only mediocre.
Indian Journalist Says Kadhi Chawal Is Mediocre
Another very mediocre north dish that people go on and on about:
Kadhi Chawal 🙄

Look, we agree that people have diverse opinions and not everyone has the same taste. But some opinions are just too wild. Recently, an Indian Journalist by the name of Shiv Aroor took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and sicced one such opinion onto Netizens. In a post, he said that one of the very mediocre dishes that North Indians go on and on about is Kadhi Chawal.
This comment amounts to blasphemy

X is a platform where people are itching to lash out at each other at the slightest provocation. Needless to say, this post was an open invitation for ridicule and that is exactly what happened in the comment section. It was clear that Kadhi Chawal was a favourite dish of many of the people in the comment section.
I’m doing Kadhi ninda of this post 😒

As with all controversial opinions, this one too had its “devil’s advocates.” Meaning, that though a vast majority of the people seemed aghast at such a bold food take, there were many who even supported the journalist. Some said that Rasam Chawal was much better than Kadhi Chawal. Well, why make them compete? Why can’t both be considered as some of the top comfort food items of India?
Kadhi chawal is like poha. All hype and no taste and both needs bhujiya on top of it.

Needless to say, the opinion didn’t sit well with most. Some even said that he should be given “kadhi se kadhi saza” for having such an opinion!
Now you are crossing the limit with your food opinions Shiv. Parwal hate Tak theek tha

One commenter said that they were okay when he hated on Parwal (pointed gourd) but hating on Kadhi chawal is crossing the line. Another commenter wondered that maybe the guy has never had kadhi with ghee and that’s why he thinks this.
Looks like nobody put ghee in his kadhi chawal 👀

Yet others proceeded to roast him with memes. This is not the first time that Aroor has shared a controversial food opinion. Earlier, he called Malpua the worst sweet dish and incurred the wrath of the Internet even then! Clearly, this guy is loud and proud about all the controversial culinary opinions that he might have!
