Indian Railways has revealed a comprehensive list of 28 trains that will pass through the newly constructed Pamban Bridge, India’s first vertical lift sea bridge, improving connectivity to Rameswaram from 11 major cities. In a historic ceremony on 6 April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the engineering marvel, a milestone for India’s rail network.

As reported by ET Now, the new Pamban Bridge now connects Rameswaram Island with the mainland via a modern vertical lift system, ensuring the free passage of trains and naval traffic. Following its opening, Indian Railways announced 28 train services that will pass through this iconic bridge. These trains will originate from major stations such as Ayodhya Cantt, Banaras, Bhubaneswar, Tiruchchirappalli, Tirupati, Chennai, Coimbatore, Okha, Kanyakumari, Madurai, and Firozpur Cantt.
This expansion seeks to enhance accessibility to Rameswaram for pilgrims and tourists, as well as resident travellers, thus reflecting a sturdy stride towards local development and increased mobility.
